Over 20 years ago, Disney and Pixar Animation Studios' animated film Cars premiered. In this highly successful film, we were introduced to Sally Carrera, a character inspired by the iconic Porsche 911 Carrera.
And now, Porsche has recently announced a very special, one-of-a-kind, Porsche car inspired by this much-loved character, the 911 Sally Special. This exciting pursuit is the first time that Pixar has supported such a project.
The one-off car is to be auctioned by RM Sotheby's on Saturday, 20 August 2022 with the proceeds being donated to two charities. The two charities are Girls Inc., a charity that helps young women, and USA for UNHCR, an organisation that is supporting refugees from Ukraine.
Vice President Communications, Sustainability and Politics at Porsche AG, Dr. Sebastian Rudolph said “Vehicles need a face and a story. And the animated Pixar's film 'Cars' has impressively transferred done just that: brought cars to life on the big screen,”.
Starting in November 2021, the Pixar team that worked on the popular animated film worked alongside the Sonderwunsch team at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Stuttgart and designers from Style Porsche in Weissach to create this unique car.
Every aspect of this amazing car has been uniquely designed, including the hand-applied paint in Sallybluemetallic which is featured on the exterior and interior.
